The year 2008 began in celebration for two Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs) from World Vision's Middle East and Eastern European Region, as Forbes magazine ranked them both in the top 50 of the magazines first ever listing of the worlds top MFIs.

Some 154,000 children were impacted and 131,000 jobs created by MFI investments in families across the eight countries in the region in 2007 alone.

To find out more about the extraordinary success of the MFI's in the region, click here to link to our latest special web feature Credit Breaks Bonds of Poverty. Read the stories of individuals improving their livelihoods and creating a brighter and more secure future for their children, and about the impact of the Happy Child Project for 56,000 children (whereby a percentage of each loan goes directly back into the funds for the community in Serbia and in Montenegro).
